Police Vesak

Vesak is coming. Police is ready. Alcohol is ban in the Vesak week in Sri Lanka. We are ready to hunt down anyone who sell or transport alcohol in Vesak week. We are ready to Vesak.

This whole thing puzzles me a lot. Why we ban alcohol especially on Vesak week? Is that because of 5th precept? Even though 5th prospect is not a rule should oppose by the police, why we only police that? How about other 4? Would Buddha have request for an alcohol ban and religious policing for his birthday?

I have no issue with policing Alcohol as a separate issue. But I cannot understand how we mix that with Buddhism. Especially do we need police to practice Buddhism in Sri Lanka? I know the triple gem - Buddha, Dharma and Sanga. Isn't Buddhism in Sri Lanka using the Police as a fourth gem in Vesak week?

I understand there are good arguments out there. People may get drunk in Vesak week and spoil the party. But if Buddhists get drunk, is that because of so call Buddhists does not understand Buddhist teaching? If it is so, is police the right tool for that? Isn't there already a group call Monks in Buddhism who suppose to teach Buddhism to people who want to learn? If people do not understand Buddhist principles, isn't there something wrong in that mechanism? Shouldn't we fix that first of all instead using police to force us to fake like good Buddhists?

Should we fake ourselves in Vesak week trying to be like good Buddhists? Isn't that a big giant lie? Aren't we all collectively breaking 4th prospect ? Aren't we insulting Buddha and his teaching in this process?

By the way Excise department open a new Vesak hotline, if you know anyone who sell or transport alcohol in Vesak, call 2300170 and put them behind bars.

Happy Police Vesak to all.

Malgudi Days ~ R.K. Narayan

What can I say? It is Narayan in South India. Just like Mark Twain in America and Martin Wickremasinghe in Sri Lanka. It is Swami in Malgudi, Upali in Koggala and Tom Sawyer in Mississippi.

If you are a Sri Lankan, you may already have seen this stories number of times. Why not another time!

Pussy Cat Jump out the Amnesty International's Bag

Amnesty International started new campaign call play by the rules at Cricket World cup this year. We all know the story. Basically the face intention of this campaign is force government and Terrorist groups to fight by the rules, like a nice cricket game in a sunny day. First I thought how wonderful Amnesty International is. That is exactly what I wanted to see. I want terrorist groups to give up their weapons and play it like cricket - inside the parliament according the rule call Democracy.

But for my disappointment I found out that is not what AI is aimed for. IA wanted us to keep on killing each other and they want to monitor how good we slaughter ourselves. Then I thought what stupid idea it is. The Amnesty International I admired the most really after something so senseless? They have no regards for democracy?

Cricket is the biggest event we all can sit down together and drink beer and scream at TV screen regardless of tribes, religion or political views. Except weather, cricket is the only topic we all can talk comfortably when War is the all time biggest news in Sri Lanka. When we Sri Lankans crave for something for us to be united around, How stupid AI jump in and divide Cricket fans are likes?

But today I found out why! A pussy cat jumped out the AI's bag.
"I hope in a similar fashion the campaign started by Amnesty International will evolve into an international sports boycott against the Sri Lankan cricket team," terrorist's spokeswoman Selvy Navaruban told AFP today.
Now finally it makes sense to me. Amnesty International is not as stupid as I thought after all. They were just working for terrorists this time. I hope AI will utilize funds they received from LTTE for good cause. I have no ill feeling against Amnesty International by the way. Every one allowed to make mistakes once in a while.

LTTE other hand been the most brilliant terrorist group ever and the head-master of the word terrorist school, they make brilliant a move this time. They bombed Central Bank, Air Port, harbors, commander-in-chiefs, but this time they went beyond material destructions. Now they are after our cricket team in international level. How can I not amaze by the brilliant tactics LTTE make all the time? Destroy Sri Lanka's pride-and-joy instead materials, and hire the world's best Organizations to work for them? Aren't LTTE is the best terrorist group ever or not?

Cops Love Crime ~ Amnesty International Love Conflict

Cops love crime. The whole survival of a cop depends on amount of stabbing and muggings around the corner. If there are no crimes around the neighborhood, then cops will starves to death - we dam sure will not spend our tax money on cops if there are no break-in or stabbing. Cops love crime. Cops will never stop crime. They will Fight crime! But they are not stupid enough to stop it.

I'm a big fan of Amnesty International - love the voice against Death Penalty, Guantanamo bay, fair trial, free education, prison conditions and lot of other things... It is good Amnesty International works in Sri Lanka. It is good they talk about civilians. It is good they make more and more human right violation reports. According to Moynihan's law, AI prove Sri Lanka have more freedom, than in most of other countries. I do appreciate it. But leave the mother fcking cricket team alone. Are you nut Tim Parritt? I bet your cannot pull something like that front of Manchester United.
"Just as all cricket teams need an independent umpire to make objective decisions, so too does Sri Lanka need independent human rights monitors to ensure the Sri Lankan government, Tamil Tigers and other armed groups respect the rules and protect civilians caught up in the conflict," - Tim Parritt
You get whole thing so wrong Tim. Death Penalty must be stopped. Guantanamo bay must be closed. Terrorism in Sri Lanka must stop too. It shouldn't be played at all - not like Cricket or not like ice hockey. It is not a suitable game to play at all. Tim, you may live in relative comfort and watch the bloody game in Sri Lanka and wish us to play it like cricket - So you can have broadcasting revenue. But we don't want to want play that game with an umpire or without an umpire. We want to stop the dam thing. We want to see all teams lay down their weapons so we can live in peace.

Oh! Sorry! I forgot. If we stop the game, what would you do! My mistake! Ok. You give us an umpire ~ We will kill ourselves as you wish.
